What is the procedure to
move/transfer a FrontPage enabled web-site hosted elsewhere to Web Spinners®
networks?
First make sure you can send email from the admin contact address listed for the Domain currently. If it is not registered through network solutions you should have a user name and password to update the DNS on the domain. You will need to give us the account info and password or after completing the next few steps you can update it yourself. If you are registered through Verisign/Network Solutions and the domain is older than a year you probably don't have a user account with them and therefore the admin or technical contact can change the DNS via email. If it was recently registered with VeriSign/Network Solutions then you should have a login id and password needed to update the DNS. First real step for you is using our Web-Form @ http://www.web-spinners.com/domain_names.htm on this we need your contact info and Domain you want to Transfer. Fill out all (NIC ID) optional. The username and password requested here is to use on our servers (what you want here). Submit that, you will then be able to pick a hosting plan. For most sites you want a Silver (10 MB Plan) for 1 year or 6 months. 1 year is cheapest ($56.25). Next, you will be asked for EMAIL MAPPINGS (these are auto forwarded addresses like sales or webmaster @ DomainNameTransfered goes to EMAIL_ADDRESS at ISP or other POP3 Mailbox. Mappings are free they just point all mail for a address to your real account (you@aol.com or you @hotmail.com) You may only want Domain name email and not use the ISP stuff for anything but personal mail. In that case skip past the mappings and continue on to checkout. Make sure you pick a payment method. Either Checking and use the ABA Code and Account Number section or VISA-MC-AMEX and use the CardNumber and Expiration date section. Confirm the order, and do a final confirmation. If the payment method is good you will be moved on to a Thank You and a receipt will have been sent from us and our Bank. We will then setup the account requested and setup the Web on a FrontPage server. We will then begin the transfer if you provided the account info to change DNS or if you will reply to the email from VeriSign. Once the DNS is changed it will take effect worldwide in 24 to 48 hours. We can give you a temp domain name alias like http://YourName.WebSpinners.Info that you can publish your FrontPage web too and it will be there for anyone to see once the DNS change takes effect for them. Some will get one or the other site for a day and some will even get both for a day after the change so it is good to have the site on both. This way you can open www.YourDomainName.Com at your current host and publish directly to YourName.WebSpinners.Info then reply to the transfer request or make changes as needed for DNS and not worry if any user will notice one second of downtime! Email can be setup while we wait or you can put the details in the comments section of the form you start on. The standard email option is a POP3 account which you will have a name and password for and incoming and outgoing mail server to setup in Outlook, Eudora, Composer or whatever you use to POP email. These are $3 per month for each account and comes with 5MB storage and unlimited alias address's. Space can be upgraded at $3 per 5MB per month. Virus scanning can be added to the domain email so all accounts and email are pre-scanned for $2 per month. Recommended if you don't keep your virus scanner updated daily on your own machine and scan for Trojans and all virus's and characteristics. Norton 2001 or 2002 and McAffee are pretty good if you have them turned up on your local system but sometimes choke when a infected email is located and it is low on memory from working all day (learned from much personal experience). New we have grown our own Web Application email system and constantly add new features to be better than Hotmail or Yahoo or any Pay Web-Mail provider. It allows you to access email for your domain from any computer with a browser and internet connection. You login to a web page and view email from there. It allows you to skip to any message and read/delete/move without waiting on all the other junk to download first (normal POP method). You can have unlimited alias's for your domain delivered into your account, create folders and subfolders to store mail in, maintain a online personal address book, easily send from any alias address on your account and even use it to pull your email from any POP3 account you might have. While this should be $5 per account since it also has 10MB storage it is only $1 per month due to us still adding new things and sometimes fixing minor bugs caused by those new things. It works as described and better but sometimes has cooky errors that make you click again or give you some other error until we encounter and fix it. This can be tested by requesting a demo account for SpiderMail.Net In the comment box on the Domain Names page you can tell us what email option you want and give us the account email address and any alias's you want with each account. If you have any questions you can email us or call during business hours 9am-9pm for assistance. Email is 24 hours per day with a 1-5 hour response time normally. |
